Detecting A Problem

One of the most productive things anyone with frequent anger can do is to admit they are struggling with their current anger management strategies. Some people carry on for years as very angry people and do not realise until they have lost many of the important things in their life. Early detection cannot only be beneficial to health but may also help prevent other areas of your life from deteriorating.

Detecting A Problem In Your Own Behaviour

Some people can live for quite a while without realising that they are less able to control their anger.Sometimes it can interfere with sleeping patterns, sometimes work and relationships suffer but for most the most obvious sign is that are handle tense situations less well.Irritability becomes more common and less patience is likely especially with mundane or everyday tasks that achieve little but take time.

If someone annoys you are you able to shrug it off and carry on or do you find yourself getting physically angry and then trying to keep it in?Do you find that your children are annoying you more often or you are less interested in spending quality time with them? Perhaps your children have noticed your anger and are trying harder to stay out of your way for fear of being shouted at.

Whatever changes you are experiencing you should try and identify your triggers and possibly avoid them of sort them out to be less of an irritation for you. With regards to your anger management, obviously your current strategies are not working effectively so you will probably benefit from learning some new ones.

Detecting A Problem In Others

Often this can be more difficult than it is first thought. Although anger can manifest in some very obvious signs such as physical outbursts, a lack of patience and an increase in irritability concerning very unimportant issues there are other clues than may help decide whether someone you know has got a problem with their anger management. If you live with the person you may have noticed that they are not sleeping as well as they normally would do. Sometimes they may feel more tired than normal but be unable to sleep or they may be sleeping with no problem but still be tired the next day. Obviously this can be a sign of a physical problem and should be investigated by the doctor to make sure there are no underlying conditions.

You may have noticed that the person frowns more often or has physically aged lately. This can occur due to high levels of stress and may not be noticed by those immediately around them but by those who see them less often. An angry person may be less interested in sex and their relationship as their thoughts are pre-occupied with suppressing their anger.

No-one wants to admit they are angry and are struggling to cope with their anger but it is important to not just protect yourself from the detrimental effects but the effects that it may have on others too.
